My name is Simon King, and I am a writer.

I tend to write screenplays, but my first novel, The Romanian Incident, was published in November 2022.

It is me!

I have a degree in mathematics and my graduate study was in Dynamical Systems (a fancy word for Chaos Theory.) My favorite writer is Alexandre Dumas and my favorite screenwriter is Richard Curtis. Filmmakers I admire are Alfred Hitchcock, Sam Mendes, and Christopher Nolan. My screenplays and films have won some cool awards; something I hope to accomplish with my novels.

My screenplays…

I wrote, produced, and directed my first play in fourth grade. The audience laughed so I guess I did something right. Since then, I have written, produced, and directed numerous screenplays. Some win awards, which is cool. And some do not, which is fine. At any given time, I have seven or eight screenplays in varying degrees of completeness. A click on the button will take you to some posters of past films. And yes, directors must always point.

Novels…

I have three novels and one collection of short stories in the works. My first novel, The Romanian Incident is a murder-mystery set in Romania during the Cold War. It will be published in September 2021. The sequel to that novel, The British Affair goes to point in 2022. Letters from Iceland is a coming of age story set in Iceland (are you seeing a trend here?) and 13 Tales About Nothing in Particular is a collection of brief stories that is set… Nowhere in particular.

And the rest...

I was born in a tiny cottage named Clearstream in Byfleet, England to brilliant and loving parents. My wife is a saint for putting up with all the tapping I do on the keyboard. I have five children, four granddaughters, and one grandson. I am based in Oregon where I can breath pure air, hike up volcanoes, and pretend to swim in the frigid Pacific Ocean. No… This is not Oregon.

Today, I keep busy with writing The British Affair and doing pre-production on a feature film that will shoot in 2022 in Eastern Europe.
